The Gunmakers Arms delivers scientific and historical talks every month in its two rooms. A tradition space with superb local ales, just two minutes walk from Aston University.
Birmingham Open Media
BOM (Birmingham Open Media) is a creative collaborative workspace for art, technology and science. As a community driven non-profit organisation, BOM offers flexible co-working, production and shared studio spaces for artists, technologists and scientists and supports skills sharing through its active community of Fellows and R&D residencies. BOM’s gallery and events space hosts free exhibitions and events that result from creative collaborations and practice-based research with art, technology and science.
As well as freely providing space for ‘Meet the Expert’ events, Thinktank is available for hire for all types of events. We’re the only venue in the Midlands where delegates can enjoy their canapés either under the wings of Spitfire and Hurricane fighter planes. A 70 seat Digital Planetarium offers a unique immersive experience, alongside spaces amidst the exhibits and a 180 seat theatre.
A theatre pub dating back to the end of the 19th century with loads of character. The first floor air-conditioned “Jim Beam Rocks” function room can comfortably hold 100 people and a stage. This room is available for FREE HIRE subject to achieving a minimum bar spend. This amount varies depending on which night of the week you are interested in (excluding Friday & Saturday).
Café Scientifique is held at Pure Bar. Located downstairs, the room has seating for 50 and capacity for up to 70 people. Food and drink can be ordered from the dedicated bar. The room can only be accessed from the main bar stairs.
fizzPOP are a Makerspace in Birmingham; a community-owned physical space where people come together to collaborate, sharing ideas, knowledge and tools. They host talks and have workshops, providing members with access to machinery or some combination of many other possible facilities. Learning to solder, program, operate a laser cutter, use tools, design or just make things is a lot easier and more fun with guidance from others.
