SciComm resources from ESA

The Ecological Society of America (ESA) has a resource guide to get scientists started on communicating their work. They also launched a formal communication section to their website on the back of this, which can be found here.

By asking folks to think like journalists, and leverage multimedia, they were better able to find the sweet spot for sharing complex stories in a compelling and accurate way.

The doc has some useful links on how to get started including why it’s important to engage, top tips, ethics, and brass tacks of how to communicate effectively. If you are conveying an ecological topic or any complex field for that matter, there is much to be learned through these resources.
