Job – RSC regional education coordinator (Midlands)

Applications are invited for the above post in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Warwick. The Education Coordinator will promote, at a regional level, the activities of the Royal Society of Chemistry Education Department and develop strong and effective networks of contacts across the Midlands’ education system and chemistry outreach community.

You will increase engagement with those teaching chemistry, studying chemical sciences and involved in employing chemical scientists at all levels. You will also work to inform the general public of the importance and impact of the chemical sciences. You will be responsibility for delivery of the Spectroscopy in a Suitcase programme, as part of the University of Warwick’s wider Chemistry Outreach programme.

You will have good knowledge of chemistry with an undergraduate degree in chemistry, or equivalent experience. You will demonstrate active engagement and interest in school education and teaching, with an understanding of the broader UK education sector. You will be able to persuade and influence teachers as well as teaching students. You will have excellent communication skills and experience of managing events or projects. You will be able to work independently and in a team. A full UK driving licence, a willingness to travel regularly and occasionally work outside normal business hours are also required.

Salary: £29,301-£38,183 per annum

Position available from May.  Fixed-term contract to the end of Dec 2017. Contract extension may be possible contingent on external funding.
