Science Bus in UK, 16-31st July

As part of the EU Doing-It-Together Science project, the Waag Society in Amsterdam are launching a 4-month travelling Science Bus which will bring hands-on workshops and activities across Europe on the theme of Folk Science – Collecting remedies for urban survival. Drawing on the values of the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Science movement, the bus will visit locations outside of the typical science centres & institutions to reach a new audience. The bus is (almost) entirely self-sufficient, and will arrive with all materials for DIY workshops & experiments, tables and benches and x2 skilled facilitators.

The UK is one of the first countries the bus will visit (16 – 31st Julyand we’re looking for local partners to help us with coordination and facilitating the workshops and to help spread the word! We would be grateful for your recommendations on local markets/fairs/fetes/festivals that the bus could join while it’s in the UK. Due to timing we probably won’t have a chance to go further north than the Midlands but please let us know of any opportunities to the south of this.

I’ll be helping the Waag team coordinate in the UK, so please get in touch if you’d like to get involved and want to know more of the practical details.
