Reminder of upcoming events

Funny Things is a new comedy festival for the Black Country. That’s in the Midlands for those readers unfamiliar with British idioms.

Specifically, there are two events which have plenty of science content and you will find some BrumSciComm regulars lurking there. Get them both in your diary.

  • BRIGHT CLUB | 30th October  8pm-9.30pm | Arena Theatre, Wolverhampton

Bright Club is the thinking person’s variety event, where researchers become comedians for just one night. Hear from brilliant academics from the University of Wolverhampton and University of Birmingham tell you funny stories about the fascinating work they do.
The evening will be hosted by professional comedian Paul Duncan McGarrity, who will then be sticking around to perform his show Ask An Archaeologist at 9.45pm.
Age guidance 16+
Tickets £5 from Arena Theatre or pay what you want on the door.

  • MAGICAL SCIENCE OF THE DANGEROUS | 2nd November 9.30pm-10.30pm | Giffard Arms, WOlverhampton

This show is cabaret like you have never seen before. A combination of real science, mischief, comedy and downright dangerousness with two of the Black Country’s Leading performance scientists Martin Khechara and Jon Wood. If you thought that science was boring then think again.
Tickets £5 in adv or pay what you want on the door.
