The NERC public engagement call (‘Engaging Environments’) inviting proposals for consortium and capacity building projects costing between £50k and £100k has been announced: http://www.nerc.ac.uk/about/whatwedo/engage/public/pe-call/
This consortium and capacity building stage aims to build a long-term, effective and innovative public engagement community, and support the formation of collaborative teams who will then go on, in a second stage, to bid to lead one, ambitious, large-scale project that will achieve national impact and recognition in engaging the UK public with contemporary issues of environmental science.
NERC’s desired outcomes for this stage:
- Capacity to lead and deliver effective, national-scale public engagement with contemporary issues of environmental science through collaborations and partnerships that drive forward the debate and deliver innovative public engagement.
- Strengthened capacity within the environmental science research community and beyond in order to foster excellence in the quality of future public engagement activity.
