The British Ecological Society invites applications for its outreach grants. These encourage individuals and organisations to promote ecological science to a wider audience through public engagement activities. Grants support projects that:
- increase public understanding of, and engagement with, ecology;
- stimulate discussion about ecology and its implications for society;
- inspire and enthuse people of all ages about the science of ecology, especially those not previously interested;
- develop skills in communicating the science of ecology.
Individuals and organisations, including society members, researchers, schools, museums, libraries and community groups, may apply. Project objectives must be aimed at a non-academic audience and provide a clear demonstration of direct interaction with the public. They also must show evidence of links to the research community at UK, regional and international levels. Applicants may receive only one grant per year and altogether three grants in five years.
Grants are worth up to £2,000 each, closing date is 11th September 2017 and further details and application form are here.
