This year sees the return of the Institute of Physics’ national ‘3 Minute Wonder’ science communication competition!
Described as “Educational, inspiring and entertaining all at once”, 3 Minute Wonder challenges researchers in physics-related fields (industry OR academia) to explain their work in … yes, you guessed it … just three minutes.
Participants pitch their research to a panel of established science communicators and a non-specialist general public audience; the judges awarding points for physics content, presentation skill, level of engagement and entertainment. In the event of a tie, the audience decides the winner.
The winner and runner up from each participating IoP region will be invited to compete again in the national final at the Royal Institution in May 2018.
We are now inviting entries for our regional heats but whether a contestant or spectator, I hope you enjoy following the competition.
