Want to be part of next year’s British Science Festival? Now’s your chance. We have opened the call for proposals and Award Lecture nominations.
Next year, the Festival is taking place in Hull – the 2017 UK City of Culture – and will be hosted by the University of Hull between 11 – 14 September 2018.
The British Science Festival is Europe’s longest standing science festival, travelling to a different place in the United Kingdom each year. It aims to diversify the public’s understanding of ‘science’, with an events programme that encompasses it in the broadest sense of the word. In 2017, the Festival went to Brighton and it was one of the biggest yet – check out our highlights video to get a flavour of what went down!
Open call for proposals
Festival content should be aimed at non-specialist adults (i.e. aged 16+) with a broad interest in science. We welcome and encourage proposals with creative formats and drop-in activities.
The deadline for proposals is 9.00 19 February 2018.
Award Lecture nominations
Every year we invite promising early career researchers, who are keen to engage people with their research, to apply for one of our seven Award Lectureships. These Award Lectures aim to promote open and informed discussion of science and related disciplines.
The deadline for nominations is 9.00 2 January 2018.
