The Disruptive Media Learning Lab (DMLL) is an experimental unit devoted to fostering educational innovation, including open knowledge sharing and digital fluency development at Coventry University. The DMLL consists of a dynamic team formed of innovation leads, community producers, learning technologists and researchers who work closely with academics, support staff and students across all faculties, research centres and subsidiaries across the University Group.
The DMLL, in collaboration with Wikimedia UK, is looking to recruit a Wikimedian in Residence to support an active and creative application of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects (e.g. Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata) into teaching, learning and wider public engagement activities. The post is offered as part time (0.5 FTE) on a 2 year fixed term.
We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who possesses excellent organisational, communication and digital skills (including copyright literacy) and who has relevant experience in community engagement and open knowledge. Advanced knowledge of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia initiatives will be valued but it is not essential.
The post holder will hold an Honours Degree or equivalent and be able to provide expertise and technical knowledge to facilitate and develop a sustainable relationship between Coventry University and Wikimedia UK, through a range of activities with staff, students and the public. The successful candidate will establish a network of Wikimedia champions (students and staff) on campus and will help embed digital fluency and open knowledge activities (such as thematic edit-a-thons and subject based projects) into the curriculum and outreach initiatives.
Supporting the University to understand how its collections and public engagement activities can enhance, broaden and improve open knowledge sharing and open educational practices will also be a core responsibility of the person appointed as WIR.
